School and Centre Staff Strike on November 6, 2023

As you must have read in the media, an upcoming strike day will impact our school services on November 6, 2023. Riverside School Board will therefore be forced to modify the schedule of its usual activities. The Support Staff Union, the Teachers’ Union and the Education Professionals’ Union issued a mandate for a simultaneous strike. Therefore, modifications are planned for elementary, secondary, and the Adult Education and Vocational Training sectors.

The strike day will be held from midnight to 10:30 a.m. on November 6. Therefore, during this period, there will be no morning daycare services or school bus transportation to schools (including RTL direct services to school).

On this day, we will be reorganizing school services as follows:

  • No morning daycare services will be offered;
  • No morning transportation services will be offered;
  • All regular school and centre activities will resume between 10:45-11:15 a.m. as scheduled for that day (except GPI);
  • Distance education and training for all students in ACCESS adult education and vocational training centres, according to the usual schedule as of 10:45am.
  • Lunch hour and end of day daycare services will be available for registered students;
  • End of day transportation will be offered according to the usual schedule.

Riverside School Board respect the strike mandate and recognize the importance of the work of its staff. Nevertheless, our goal is to minimize the impact on learning, ensure the safety of our students and try to minimize the inconvenience experienced by parents.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time.
Thank you for your continued support.

Commitment-to-Success Plan

As we dive into the new academic year, we are excited to share with you our School Board’s new Commitment-to-Success Plan for the years 2023-2027. Since the Ministry of Education approved our Plan at the beginning of this school year, we have been diligently working with our schools and centers to implement the objectives outlined in this Plan.

Our commitment to the success of our students extends beyond the confines of the classroom. It is a collective effort that involves our schools and centres, but also parents, community partners, commissioners, coaches, professionals, and employers. Every individual plays a crucial role in shaping the educational journey of our students.

The objectives set forth in our Commitment-to-Success Plan are designed to create an environment that fosters learning, growth, achievement, and the well-being of our students. We are proud to embark on this journey, confident that with the contribution of each member of our community, we will realize these objectives and make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.

Throughout the course of the year, we will come back to the Commitment-to-Success Plan objectives with mini-capsules. As well, you will be able to see the result of our progress in the Annual Reports. Regular updates and communication will ensure that you are well-informed in this shared endeavor.

We believe in the power of collaboration, and together, collectively, we can create a future where every student reaches their full potential. Thank you for your dedication and support in making our Commitment-to-Success Plan a reality.
