DATA PROCESSING OPERATOR, CLASS I (100%)

SPECIAL PROJECT – Technology

This temporary full-time position is currently available in the Educational and Technology Services Department at Riverside School Board, located at 7525 chemin de Chambly in St. Hubert.

The Educational and Technology Services department offers varied direct and indirect support to the board departments, school teams, administrators, teachers, students and parents. In terms of technology, some of the key dossiers include the technology infrastructure, security of information and systems, computer hardware and software and the use of technology for teaching and learning. As a member of this team, you will contribute to these important areas of work.

NATURE OF WORK:

The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in assisting computer users and particularly in resolving hardware- or software-related problems as well as installing and configuring computer equipment and software according to standard procedures.

Characteristic functions:

The employee in this class of employment installs and configures computers and peripheral equipment; they connect computers and equipment and ensure their compatibility. They install computer parts, such as cards, memory modules or network components; configure the equipment by setting jumpers; clean, maintain and carry out minor repairs on the equipment.

They install, configure and upgrade software and in-house programs according to standard procedures. They use utility software, among others, to locate and resolve problems. They make backup copies, copy compressor destroy files on various media and transfer data from one workstation or organization to another. They use peripheral equipment, such as a digitizer or a printer particularly for mass productions in the order of priority they determine. According to specific instructions, the employee may be required to perform tasks on networks.

They assist users upon request, provide pertinent information; as needed, make service calls to repair equipment and software or refer users to qualified personnel or suppliers.

They may keep and update the inventory of hardware and software.

They may be required to train new data processing operators, class I and to coordinate the work of support staff.

If need be, they perform any other related duty.

Required qualifications:

Schooling and experience Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in Computing Support or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have two (2) years of pertinent experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENT:

Must hold a valid driver’s licence to travel to the schools.

Competency in English and French

Willingness to participate in professional development activities.

Exhibits organizational ability, autonomy and interpersonal skills.

SCHEDULE: From Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 60-minute meal break.

SALARY: $782.60 to $875.00 per 35-hour week, according to qualifications and experience.
