Riverside School Board’s Approach to the MEQ Recovery Plan

As you may have seen in the media and on different social media platforms from the Ministry of Education (MEQ), the government must recover $200 million for the 2024 fiscal year. For Riverside School Board (RSB), this means adjusting our operations to recover approximately $1.18 million.

After a thorough and strategic review, we have safeguarded all essential services for our students and staff, ensuring they remain fully intact while optimizing efficiency and sustainability. Our priority has always been to support student success without compromise.

Please be assured that RSB is making every effort to minimize the impact on vital services. We are also engaged in ongoing discussions regarding future budgets, as we anticipate significant reductions to our operational budget for the next school year.

We will keep you informed as the situation evolves, and please know that our students and staff remain our top priority.

SMS Notifications

We’re pleased to inform you that the application is now operational!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Emergency Line: Managed by the administrative centre, this line will be used for emergencies, such as school closures, when necessary.
  • Communication Line: This line will be managed by the school or centre, and messages will be sent when the principal deems it appropriate.

Further details about when and how the school or centre will use the application, including the types of SMS messages you can expect, will be communicated directly by the school or centre. (However, transportation, and several schools have already started to use this tool to communicate with parents.)

If you do not receive the SMS from your school or centre, we encourage you to re-register using the correct code provided by your school. As mentioned earlier, several registrations with incorrect codes were discarded.

Please also note that Facebook will continue to be another great tool to reach our community quickly and in case of school closures, the website will show a pop-up as well.
