Last night, one of our transporters decided to ground their electric buses as a precautionary measure for inspections. This morning, we were informed that all electric buses would undergo inspections as a preventive step. Many media outlets have shared this information today. Please note that this grounding was not a school board decision but was mandated across all school boards and school service centres to ensure safety. RSB responded promptly and prioritized communication via email, our website, and Facebook.
Our small transportation team worked diligently to send out those emails to the affected families as quickly as possible — by the morning, we had notified parents of 63 bus routes impacted within the RSB network. Since we only became aware of the situation at 8:30 p.m., and additional affected buses were identified the following morning, please understand that the email used was an automatic message designed to quickly inform parents about the students impacted. It was not the usual message regarding a lack of buses but specifically addressed the shortage of bus drivers. While this may have caused some confusion, our main goal was to reach as many families as possible in a short amount of time.
Furthermore, we did not receive all the necessary information promptly, especially regarding some missing bus routes, as those details were not communicated to us.
We acknowledge that this situation is exceptional and regrettable.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate through this extraordinary situation. Thank you for your ongoing support.
