Mandate
The Education Committee is responsible for receiving and reviewing information on matters related to technology, curriculum, student evaluation, and promotion for students enrolled in preschool, elementary, secondary, adult general education, and vocational training.
The committee’s role includes being informed about:
- Ministry Programs and Legislation: New programs and legislation introduced by the Ministry of Education and their anticipated impact on classroom implementation.
- Strategic Educational Priorities: Progress related to the development and implementation of goals aligned with the Board’s Commitment to Success Plan and its Strategic Plan.
- Local Programs and Initiatives: Updates on local programs available to students and their implementation across Riverside School Board.
- Professional Development: Information on professional development opportunities provided for teaching staff, administrators, and support staff.
- Pedagogical Resources: Information on pedagogical materials available or required for use in schools.
- Adult and Vocational Programs: Updates on adult curriculum and vocational training programs offered by the School Board.
- Community Needs and New Opportunities: Information on additional programs or options being considered to meet community needs.
