Heritage Regional High School and MEPEC
We are proud to share that the opening of the Safe Space HRHS – Heritage Regional High School was a resounding success! This meaningful milestone represents over two years of dedicated work, collaboration, and commitment to student well-being.
The event featured the unveiling of a powerful mural created collaboratively by a professional artist and Heritage High School students. Thoughtfully designed, the mural reflects core values of safety, inclusion, identity, and belonging, helping to set the tone and atmosphere of the Safe Space; a place created by students, for students.
After years of planning, consultation, and advocacy, HRHS & MEPEC – Montérégie East Partnership for the English-Speaking Community are thrilled to officially open a physical space where students can feel seen, heard, supported, and safe.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
This initiative was made possible through the strong partnership between Heritage High School and MEPEC, along with the support of youth mental health funding initiatives and cultural funding that champions art and creative expression in schools.
- The Community Health and Social Service Network through the Youth Mental Health Initiative co-funded by the Secrétariat à la jeunesse and Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon for the creation of the Safe Space.
- And, from Canadian Heritage through the Community Cultural Action Funds for the mural.
Together, these efforts demonstrate the powerful impact of collaboration in supporting youth mental health and fostering inclusive, caring school communities.
