On behalf of the Council of Commissioners and Riverside School Board, we want to extend our heartfelt wishes for a wonderful and inspiring year ahead. We truly value your support and partnership, and we are excited to work together to ensure a positive and successful experience for all our students.

We look forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments. Wishing you and your families a fantastic start to the new school year!

School Transportation

We kindly ask for your understanding and patience regarding the school buses and drivers at the beginning of the school year. Many routes are new, and some drivers are too. Thank you for your support!

Drop-off area at HRHS

Due to extensive construction work as part of a major rehabilitation project on Chemin de Chambly Street in front of HRHS and the school board administrative offices, you will not be able to drive on Chemin de Chambly to drop your child.

The road closure is for a major rehabilitation project involving new pavement, sidewalks, traffic lights, and lighting to be replaced, and a new bus lane and bike path to be added.

Therefore, traffic Disruptions are expected until October.

HRHS parents wishing to drop off their children or pick them up at the end of the day, please do so at Roseanne Laflamme. This means you will need to access this area through the Andre Laurendeau parking lot (Cousineau Boulevard). We expect less than ideal traffic situations until the chemin Chambly construction is complete. Encouraging your child to take the bus would be a better option.

Cell Phone Ban

Important policy change that will take effect at the start of the new school year.

In accordance with new directives issued by the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec (MEQ), our schools will be implementing updated cell phone regulations for all students.

Effective September 2:

  • Cell phone use will not be permitted anywhere on school property during the school day, unless specifically authorized by school administration (i.e. medical adaptation).
  • All cell phones must be turned off and stored in lockers upon arrival and must remain out of sight until the end of the school day.
  • Use of phones during class time, lunch, recess, in restrooms, or between classes is not allowed.
  • Earbuds, headphonessmartwatches, and other personal electronic devices must also be stored in lockers and may not be used to communicate or access the internet during school hours.
  • If a student needs to contact a parent or guardian, they will be permitted to do so through the school office.

These new regulations reflect the MEQ’s commitment to reducing distractions, supporting student well-being, and promoting a learning environment that prioritizes engagement and respect.

We appreciate your support in helping students adjust to these changes and encouraging responsible use of technology. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school administrators.

Court Stay

Riverside School Board has formally joined the Québec English School Boards Association (QESBA) in seeking a court stay against the Québec government’s 2025–2026 budgetary rules. These rules impose deep cuts and restrictive conditions (cap on hiring, flexibility in managing the schools, etc.) that jeopardize Riverside’s ability to deliver quality services to its students.

By supporting this court action, Riverside is standing up for more than fair funding—it is defending parents’ right to choose their children’s education and the principle of democratic governance. As one of the last elected institutions directly accountable to its community, Riverside is determined to ensure that local voices continue to shape the future of education.
