More than 50 students from the Centre of expertise in Transport ACCESS (CET-A) recently proved that creativity and technical skills go hand in hand through an inspiring project celebrating Québec’s culture and diversity.
Guided by artist Raphaël Alin, students collaborated on the creation of two urban-inspired murals right in the heart of the vocational training centre. Through this artistic journey, participants were invited to explore their roots, reflect on their place in today’s society, and express their vision of culture and diversity as future professionals in the mechanical industry.
Adding an innovative twist, artist Marc Sauvageau incorporated augmented reality into the murals, bringing the artwork to life through students’ voices, stories, and personal testimonies. The result is an engaging and interactive experience that combines art, technology, and self-expression.
More than just an art project, this initiative created a space for dialogue, reflection, and creativity while showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the ACCESS community.
As a bonus, students were given the opportunity to explore their own creativity through a hands-on graffiti workshop. After learning basic spray-painting techniques, they were invited to create personalized artwork on their lockers, adding a unique and colourful touch to the centre while expressing their individuality.
If you’ve never had the chance to visit the Transportation Centre of Expertise, now is the perfect time! Come discover these remarkable murals and see a different side of our students’ talents beyond the garage. You may be surprised by the artists hidden beneath the coveralls!
