St. Hubert, September 19, 2025 – Today, we celebrate a significant milestone in the development of our region: the official opening of the Centre of Expertise in Transport ACCESS (CET-A). This large-scale project, made possible through an exceptional contribution of $19.2 million from the Québec Infrastructure Plan and the Canada-Québec Agreement collectively, marks a new era for education and the transport industry in the Montérégie region.

This day symbolizes the realization of a strong partnership and shared commitment to innovation, training, and regional prosperity. The CET-A already positions itself as a center of expertise, capable of addressing both current challenges and future issues, notably the shortage of skilled labor and the integration of advanced technologies such as electric vehicles and sophisticated electronic systems.

We proudly highlight this opening as a true driver of development, offering a comprehensive range of innovative training programs today: co-op education, in-person classes, virtual modules, and remote training. All these initiatives ensure optimal accessibility for a wide variety of learners.

“Our official languages are at the heart of our Canadian identity; promoting and protecting them begins with education. I am very happy that the Canada-Quebec Agreement on Minority-Language Education and Second-Language Instruction 2022-2023 to 2023-2024 will contribute to this project becoming a reality. This centre’s opening illustrates very clearly what we can accomplish when we combine our efforts. Our government’s investments promote the linguistic, cultural and economic vitality of our communities while offering the next generation of workers promising future prospects.”
The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages

“The opening of the Centre d’expertise en transport ACCESS is wonderful news for Longueuil and all of Montérégie. This centre is more than just a place for training; it is becoming a hub for innovation and collaboration that will offer students unique opportunities to prepare themselves for the trades of tomorrow. By focusing on education and the transport industry, we are investing directly in the future of our region, in economic prosperity and in the success of future generations.”
Sherry Romanado, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defence and Member of Parliament (Longueuil–Charles-LeMoyne)

“The Centre of Expertise in Transport of Riverside School Board will offer students training that will enable them to acquire relevant skills and access qualified trades. It is a shining example of the importance that the Government of Québec places on vocational training and economic development in promising fields,” emphasized Ms. Sonia LeBel, Minister of Education.

“I am very pleased to highlight the official opening of the Centre of Expertise in Transport-ACCESS, a forward-looking project for our region and for all of Québec. This new centre provides high-quality training in a sector undergoing rapid transformation, directly accessible to residents of the Vachon riding. It is great news for young people, those in career transition, and the entire community. I want to commend the remarkable work of everyone who made this project possible,” stated Mr. Ian Lafrenière, Minister of Public Safety, Minister responsible for Relations with Indigenous Peoples and Inuit, Minister responsible for the Nord-du-Québec region, and Member of Parliament for Vachon.

“We are deeply grateful to the Government of Canada and the Government of Québec for their outstanding support,” declares Chris Craig, Riverside School Board Chair. “Their investment demonstrates their commitment to education, skills development, and the economic vitality of our region. With this world-class facility, the city of Longueuil and the Montérégie region are becoming key players in the transportation industry innovation.”

Thanks to the recognized expertise of our team and our strategic partnerships with industry and Service Québec, we are particularly well-prepared to shape the future of training in a constantly evolving sector. The CET-A will be much more than a place of learning: it will become a true hub of innovation, exchange, and collaboration, ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Today, we celebrate the realization of a dream, a milestone that reflects the dynamism, vision, and commitment driving our region to build a promising future.
