Within the IB units of inquiry,” A Long Time Ago….”, the Grade 3 students are learning about the origins of Canada. A good place to start is with our Aboriginal people, in particular, the Algonquin and Iroquois tribes. The students spent weeks immersing themselves with information about the daily lives of these two tribes. After making models of Algonquin and Iroquois villages, the students were ready to share their newly acquired knowledge with their family and the school population.
What an amazing experience for the students. So many skills were developed: Research, Cooperation, and Communication skills……and a sense of pride.
